Today we heard the sad news of an old friend of the band passing away, Martien Manders of the band Mad Cows. Read more on their site, under 'meer info over Martien Mad Cow'.
Martien and his wife Wil often attended our gigs. We wish Wil, their family and friends and The Mad Cows much strength in carrying their grief.

That's all for the Clash, folks... We didn't win a prize in the final round last Saturday in Tilburg, but our gig went very well and once again
we had a great day of a sold out venue, meeting great bands and wonderful people. Thank you all for supporting us!

We're still in the Clash game! Because we earned high scores in both the jury and the public awards, we'll join the playoffs in the IJsbreker in Leusden
on Feb. 7th. There, two out of seven bands receive a ticket to the national semi finals in Paradiso, Amsterdam. Thank you all!! Hope to see you in Leusden!!

After three rounds we're finally leaving Eindhoven! We came out as second best in the regional semi final of the Clash Of The Coverbands,
and that results in a ticket for the regional final in 013 in Tilburg op 10 jan. '10.

The curse of Lierop... This time Martijn lost his voice, right after the gig in Ermelo.
Where would we be without Barnfarmer Fried? He sang a couple of tunes too, so we still could play a short set.

Sad to hear that an old friend had passed away... John Dircke, owner of the Pink Noise studio in Eindhoven (NL) died of cancer at the age of 50.
We recorded our first demo there in september 1993 with him. Last September, Martijn met him again at a King Size Trio concert. They talked a while,
shook hands and John said "We'll meet again". Someday, John, we will...

We've had some trouble with e-mail lately, but we can be reached again! Lots of fun again at the All American Wheels Weekend
last Saturday. Chantilly Lace and we played sets alternately. When CL finished their last set and we were warming up again,
some guy figured he'd be really cool doing a burn-out with his scooter right in front of the stage. It sure looked cool,
but doing so on top of the (unprotected) multi-cable of the PA system wasn't that smart after all. The cable did not survive,
and the PA guys had no spare with them. End of the show. Duuhh...

In Memoriam: Henk Sleegers
1961 - 2003
Words fail here to express our sorrow...
It's hard to believe that this great man we teamed up with for weeks to make arrangements for our CD presentation has been laid in his grave today.
Henk Sleegers suddenly died in Belgium last Thursday, only 42 years old. He went out for a ride on his motorbike taking some time off after a row of busy days.
Henk was a great guy; his café Het Vervolg in Deurne was his work of life. We were very happy he gave us the opportunity to present our new CD there. That night it was a full house. After the gig was done and the crowd had gone home, we stayed there for hours chatting with Henk and his personnel.
That was only five days before he was taken from this world. Henk was still so full of plans... It wasn't meant to be. We wish his wife Gerda, the Sleegers family and Het Vervolg personnel very much strength in carrying their grief.
Henk, long may you ride.

From scratchpad to the CD-presentation took about a year and a half... But what an evening it was last Saturday in our hometown Deurne! We could never thank enough those who have helped: Henk and Gerda and personnel, Chantilly Lace, Barnfarmer Godfried, Mies Slegers, Marcel Koolen, John van der Heijden, Marcel van der Loo, and most of all... YOU who all came along once more again!!!

Yesterday, all four of us finally got together to see our long-time hero Dan Baird & Friends live, in the Mezz in Breda (NL). They rocked the house from the first note to the last! It was like a Georgia Satellites reunion: Dan was with Mauro Magellan on drums, Keith Christopher on bass and Ken McMahan on guitar. We handed them our new CD which features Dan's song "Hard Luck Boy". Dan said he felt honoured, and: "The royalties are gonna buy me a new pair of socks!" ;-) ;-) ;-)

In June and July, Marco will join Chantilly Lace for a couple of gigs again, filling in for their drummer Peter. So, at the All American Wheels Weekend Marco will appear twice, Saturday evening June 28th with Chantilly Lace, and Sunday 29th with us in the afternoon!

Good news and not so good news... What's good? The mastering of the new CD has been done! Still the artwork and some arrangements to do but expect the disc to be ready by the end of May.
And there's a site about one of our heroes, Dan Baird of the Georgia Satellites made by Gerben Holwerda.
Not so good: the Moerpop Festival at which Marco and Martijn will sit in with the The Barnfarmers, has been postponed to a yet unknown date in May.

The Barnfarmers, Godfried van Heugten's country/bluegrass band, will perform at Moerpop Festival in Moergestel (NL) on Sunday April 13th. Only problem is that they're without a lead vocalist and a drummer, so Martijn and Marco will fill in for this gig. Go check 'em!
